Prior to Readings – Adult Sex-Ed

Topic – Sex as a Healing Modality: Erotic Reiki and More – lead by Dhami Boo

Sex as a Healing Modality: Erotic Reiki and More

Dhami Boo will present his experiences of sexual energy as a healing modality and how he came to develop the modality of Erotic Reiki. When we view our sex lives through the lens of sexual healing, we see our relationships and encounters as paths to growth and transformation. When we put this intention in our lovemaking and erotic play, we create a ritual for change and healing. Amazing things happen in the breath of an orgasm. Erotic Reiki is one modality that espouses these techniques, but it all comes down to intention. And awareness. Dhami Boo has practiced and taught Erotic Reiki for over a decade around the world.

Approximately twenty attendees will also entertain with their 5-minute erotica, sex memoirs, rants, short stories and poetry.

PHILADELPHIA: The Erotic Literary Salon, unique in the English-speaking world has launched a growing movement mainstreaming erotica. Salons attract a supportive audience of 65 or more individuals. Approximately 20 participate as writers, readers, storytellers, spoken word performers of original works/words of others, the rest just come to listen, enjoy and applaud. Frances, our resident nonagenarian (98 years young) will recite her original erotica/sex journals.

Salons gather the 3rd Tuesday of every month at TIME (The Bohemian Absinthe Lounge), 1315 Sansom Street, Center City, Philadelphia. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. (limited seating), for cocktails, food and conversation. Adult Sex-Ed between 7:00-7:30, readings begin at 8:00. Admission is $12, discounted for students and seniors to $10. What Part of “Fantasy” Don’t They Understand?, Resuscitate your relationship with erotica

Two very interesting and informative blog posts on erotica/porn:

What Part of “Fantasy” Don’t They Understand?

Dr. Marty Klein

The success of “50 Shades of Grey” and news about Pornhub’s most popular search terms has too many people buzzing about the alleged dangers of each.

Both traditional conservatives and some self-identified feminists are condemning 50 Shades as encouraging violence against women. Clearly, these people know nothing about S/M, and not nearly enough about violence against women. Similarly, groups like xxxChurch and other anti-porn crusaders are dismayed that “teens” was the most popular porn search term last year, fearing this means we’re about to see a rash of adults trying to have sex with teens.

The panic about both of these things is founded on the persistent myth that enjoying a fantasy is the same thing as desiring it in real life. If that were true, millions of our neighbors would be punching their bosses, sleeping with their brothers-in-law, selling their homes to start over in Boise, or urinating on the very next TSA guard that hassles them.

Most grownups know that fantasy doesn’t equal desire and that it doesn’t predict behavior. One of the ways we cope with the pressures and complicated decision-making of adulthood is fantasy. We watch Star Wars and Star Trek, CSI and Grey’s Anatomy, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood and James Bond (and yes, Wonder Woman and the Million Dollar Baby) and we think “If only that were me…if only I had the chance…”

And we make damn sure we never have the chance. That mayhem stuff is dangerous. Fun to imagine, but nothing to mess with.

Which explains the appeal of 50 Shades of Grey: Fun to imagine, but nothing to mess with. And the appeal of porn featuring 18 and 19 year olds (the only teen porn you can find on the overwhelming majority of porn sites): fun to imagine, but nothing to mess with.

Yes, there are people who coerce women sexually. And adults who romance college kids, even some high school kids. But 50 Shades isn’t making that happen, and neither is porn. According to the federal Justice Department, the incidence of each has gone down in the last decade.
* * *
Anyone who looks at 50 Shades and thinks that women like to get roughed up is (a) not really watching the movie, and (b) thinking that before they watch the film. The idea that women like to fall in love with guys who rough them up was popular before E.L. James was born. Jimmy Cagney and Jane Austen come to mind. 50 Shades isn’t the problem. Given economic options, most women don’t stay with someone who roughs them up. And, of course, 50 Shades isn’t about roughing someone up, it’s about two people collaborating on an experiment.

The concern about porn and – read more:

Resuscitate your relationship with erotica

So the honeymoon phase of your relationship is over and life is becoming monotonous. Everything in the relationship has become boring, including the sex, which is now once a week, and a scheduled activity. Honestly, you have both tried everything that you could possibly think of, but still there is something lacking. How can you get that spark back?

With the recent release of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, women all over have been lobbying for more passion in their love lives. And men all over have been seeking ways to meet the demand.

Here to help is Jamaican author K Sean Harris, who is no stranger to erotic fiction. Below he shares five ways in which erotica can add some much needed spice to your relationship.

1. Erotica can help to broaden your sexual horizons; adding a bit of spontaneity to your love life, especially if sex has become predictable. Most of us go through school reading books related to our course of study, he said, but how many of us pick up books about sex? “You learn a lot through reading. And it’s no different with well-written erotic fiction. You can learn many new things or new spins on old ones, and that knowledge can be brought into the bedroom to resuscitate relationships on their sexual deathbed,” he said. So the next time you are in the bookstore, walk on over to the adult section and browse. See what they have; you never know what you may find.

2. Erotica can help to enhance communication between you and your partner. Though many persons may not frequently practise this, talking about sex with your partner is actually quite a liberating experience. “One of the keys to a healthy sex life is actually being able to talk about sex freely with one’s partner, and being able to reference scenes or acts from a book as an example of something that you’d like to do can be a catalyst to create excitement where there used to be a dull routine,” said Harris. This tip alone, if taken seriously, can change the whole dynamics of your relationship.

3. Erotica can be an excellent aphrodisiac. Within the privacy of your bedroom, before jumping into bed, flipping through a few pages of an erotic novel can be good foreplay. “Erotica gets you in the mood for the real thing. Think of it this way, it is like a literary lubricant,” Harris said. So bookmark that page and go right ahead…

4. Erotica is a great source for ideas. Sex performed in the same way every time gets boring. It is often said that sex it not only a physical thing, it is a mental thing as well, and as such the brain is actually the biggest sex organ there is. If that is so, why not give it something to think about? “Erotica provides tons of ways and scenarios for people to have sex and introduces readers to experiences and fantasies that they likely wouldn’t have thought of before or in some cases, can relate to, which in itself can be a huge turn-on — seeing the things you love deliciously described in print,” said Harris.

5. Erotica facilitates intimacy and sharing between couples. “Erotica can add a whole new dynamic to a relationship. When couples read sexy paragraphs or scenes to each other in bed it can be a super cool way of talking dirty to each other with no pressure of coming up with the right words to say.”

The Queen of Erotic Art

By Mary Damiano

Naomi Wilzig, owner of the World Erotic Art Museum.

Some years back, Naomi Wilzig thought her doctor, an Orthodox Jew, would criticize her for growing hobby of collecting erotic art. The doctor’s response to Wilzig’s unique passion?

Whatever makes you get up and go each day, and is a challenge for your life, and gives you an interest, is what keeps you healthy and young.”

Wilzig has a lot of reasons to get up each day. She is the founder and owner of the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami Beach,. She is well-known and respected in the art world as an authority on erotic art. She has a thriving family of children and grandchildren. And she’s about to add another item to the list—the Naomi Wilzig Art and Charity Foundation, which she’s launching in celebration of her 75th birthday.

“I’ve always been very busy, but I’m very organized,” says Wilzig. “I’ve always been very lucky that whatever I’ve tried to do, I’ve been fairly successful.”

With all of Wilzig’s accomplishments—raising a family, writing five books, opening a museum—she sees her latest endeavor as the next logical step. The foundation will be an umbrella organization that will give funds to local organizations in need, including hospitals, cancer research, cancer care, AIDS programs, and Holocaust foundations.

Wilzig’s passion for erotic art began more than 20 years ago, when her eldest son, Sir Ivan, a recording artist, asked her to pick out a few erotic art pieces for his swanky new apartment. Wilzig, who always loved collecting antiques, discovered a whole new avenue of collecting, which lead her down a new life path of self-discovery.

The Jewish grandmother traveled the world collecting erotic art pieces and amassed one of the largest collections in the world. Along the way, she reinvented herself as a force in the art world, the Queen of Erotic Art, as Ivan dubbed her.

Wilzig opened up the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami Beach in October 2005 because she felt her collection should be seen and enjoyed by the public. Her warm, grandmotherly visage was soon the face of erotic art, smiling from her taxi cab advertisements, inviting residents and tourists to come to her museum.

“I’ve received both pro and con comments about that,” says Wilzig of her moving advertisements. “I originally did it because I wanted people to realize that it’s not some quack organization, it’s not some pornographic type of thing. I wanted people to feel comfortable with the idea of coming to the museum, because it really is a fine art museum. I’ve had people say it can’t be very interesting if an old lady is running it.”

Wilzig says her biggest challenge in the four years since WEAM opened its doors is overcoming the stigma of erotic art.

“There are many people who are challenged by the idea of coming in,” says Wilzig. “They are presuming that erotic means pornographic. We are fine art. They don’t realize the potential and experience of coming in and discovering 12,000 square feet of erotic art from all over the world.

“So many people are unaware that erotic art has been created throughout the centuries,” Wilzig continues. “They have such a narrow-minded vision without realizing that without eroticism, without the sexual acts which are depicted, there would be no people. What the art does is visualizes the thoughts and activities of habits of people throughout the ages.”

Wilzig explains that much of the early erotic art was meant as fertility symbols, encouraging people to go forth and multiply.

In addition to being open to the general public, WEAM has become a popular spot for organizations—everyone from a gay men’s leather group to a Hadassah group—to hold meetings, parties, fundraisers and get-togethers. She recalls an elderly group of women who visited the museum on the insistence of their middle-aged daughters who had experienced WEAM with their Hadassah organization.

“I feel that I have done something important in creating the museum,” says Wilzig. “I didn’t realize it at the time how important it would become. For the most part people have welcomed it and are fascinated by it. We just want to keep getting that message out there that this is not pornography.”

Wilzig is most proud that WEAM has found validation from academia. Professors from other cultures have visited WEAM, commenting to Wilzig that nothing like it exists in their country. And she is very proud that human sexuality professors at various local colleges send their students to WEAM so they can better visualize what’s being taught in class. Recently, students from a sex therapists’ training institute also visited WEAM.

“For colleges to accept it and recognize the importance of it is really very satisfying to me,” says Wilzig.

Why should boys have all the fun? Does this thought often cross your mind while watching porn? But catering to this gap in the market are a few good people who have created female-friendly porn websites. Here’s our pick of top 5 websites.

These videos are essentially people masturbating or making out till they reach an orgasm. It also has a confessions corner where people talk about their fantasies and sexual experiences.
