Dear Sir or Madam – Martha Graham Cracker (the alter ego of Pig Iron Theatre Company’s Dito Van Reigersberg)

I saw the following presentation last night as part of the Thinkfest conference. The host and a few of the Drag Queens were different, but Dito Van Reigersberg remains, he is one of the best actors in Philadelphia. Do tell him you heard about this in the Erotic Literary Salon blog, I want him to know how much I support his work.

The incomparable Martha Graham Cracker (the alter ego of Pig Iron Theatre Company’s Dito Van Reigersberg) hosts an intimate evening of revealing interviews and live performances with some of Philly’s top drag performers. Channeling her inner James Lipton, Martha probes these fabulous gender benders about the meaning behind the music and the makeup. The drag stars each perform a song that exemplifies their story best, accompanied by Martha’s cabaret partner-in-crime, Victor Fiorillo. DitoMartha gets into the act, too, performing and answering questions, including a few from the audience!

Featuring two of Philly’s favorite drag queens- Icon Ebony Fierce and Ian Morrison (a.k.a. Brittany Lynn). Plus, drag king extraordinaire Jenn Kidwell (a.k.a. Stan)!

A long time ago Annie A-Bomb and David Stone made some cute little burlesque numbers together, 2004 to be exact. Then they went their separate ways, both producing shows and having great success. David Stone’s band, The Johnny Cash Experience, toured around the U.S.A playing to huge crowds and even being chosen to play the official anniversary concert at San Quentin State Prison just as the real Man in Black once did!
Annie A-Bomb made awesome shows as the co-artistic director of Cabaret Red Light, including their original Nutcracker and tours with their pirate shows to NYC and Baltimore harbor.

Flash forward to 2012 where they are reunited for The Man in Black and the Ladies in Blue! This will be the first time David Stone and his band will be in front of a Philadelphia audience in four years. The music will be the sweet old-fashioned rockabilly stuff of Elvis and Cash. The girls will be Lelu Lenore, Louis La Tease, Rene Rebel, and for the first time Lil’ Steph of Bravissimo Burlesque! These “ladies in blue” are titled such as a nod to both the “blues” the music, and “blue material” the name for adult content back in the vaudeville days.

David Miller, of U Arts, has his burlesque debut with a sexy boylesque tap dance to Blue Suede Shoes and Jim Boyle of the Waitstaff joins the cast as comic to play such roles as Santa Claus, Jesus, and a Teddy Bear. Max Guerin, formerly the sketch writer for Revival Burlesque, is the head writer and has penned four new sketches!

Choreographer Christine Fisler and director Anna Frangiosa have created some all-new lavish production numbers. You’ll see dancing teddy bears, life size Barbie dolls, and rock and roll angels!
